The Citadella dei Musei in Cagliari is sited through a fortified archway leading to the former royal arsenal, and is a museum and study complex. Most of the important museums are housed here and it is a must for those interested in Sardinia’s heritage. The island’s most important artifacts from the Phoenician, Carthaginian and Roman finds can be seen here. These include jewellery, coins, busts and statues of gods and muses, and funerary items from the site of Nora, Tharros and Sant’Antioco.
