The Ceramics Museum is housed within the Teatrino in Caltagirone. The 18th Century building is decorated with majolica. This museum tells the history of the local ceramic industry from Prehistory to the early 20th Century. The importance of moulded clay is represented by an elegant Krater of the 5th Century BC depicting a potter at his wheel being watched by a young apprentice. There are albarello drug jars painted in shades of yellow, blue and green from the 17th Century as well as amphorae and vases with medallions depicting religious and sacrilegious subjects.
