The Castrignano del Capo coastline is a high and wild area of the Adriatic, with breathtaking rugged cliffs overlooking the sea. The sea off Capo Santa Maria di Leuca is a favourite with scuba divers, with beds of Posidonia, typical Mediterranean seaweed and coral reef formations (Salento’s horny corals are among the best preserved in the entire Mediterranean). With its many wrecks, the Secca della Scala is probably one of the best places for diving, but it is only suitable for experienced divers due to the depth of water in which the wrecks are found.
