Cannero has been described as a ‘pearl in a necklace of villas and vineyards’ and as the ‘Genoese Riviera in Miniature’. Today many of the vineyards are gone, but the beautiful villas remain. It is not known as the Cannero Riviera for nothing, the climate is testament to that. Garibaldi stayed in one of the town’s villas known as the Villa Sabbion-cella after his part in the battle of Luino. The town is extremely popular with tourists from all over the world and is a hive of activity during the summer.
