The hamlet of Calimera has a Baroque church named after the patron saint of the village, San Brizio. It was built between 1688 and 1692 and contains some very fine altars. Also of note is the Chapel of the Crucifix, which is named after the 17th Century wooden crucifix on the altar. The Civic Museum has exhibits displaying the natural environment of Salento. Calimera has the typical Greek ‘short houses’ which were dwellings built for the poor and typical of Crete during the Minoan period.
