Among the most interesting buildings in Calatabiano is the Mother Church. This contains artwork by DAntonio dated 1502 including a lovely wooden Crucifix. The Chiesa di S. Filippo was built in 1482 and, on the entrance portal, is the emblem of the Cruyllas family. As well as the Medieval Castle there is the beautiful Castello di S. Marco, which was built to a rectangular plan. Close to the town is another popular attraction: the natural gorges of Alcāntara. This area has many small water falls and prismatic basaltics excavated by the river.
