The Baradello Tower in Como stands on a hill just beyond the 11th Century Basilica of San Abbondio. The Tower is still part of a small section of a curtain wall and is all that remains of the castle. It is thought Barbarossa built the castle during the middle of the 12th Century as a stronghold while he was in Como. It is well worth the trip to the Baradello Tower for the breathtaking views you get out over the city and the lake beyond.
