The ancient site of Via Martinez extends underground for about 200 metres. Because the detailing is in line with the catacombs found on Malta, the church likely dates to the 9th or 10th Century. Here you’ll find a large central room with other, smaller rooms leading off. The crypt, probably once a monastery and thought to be of Greek-Oriental origin is made up of two sections; the church and the rooms used by the community. There is a tomb behind the apse and frescoes believed to be from the middle ages.
