Alessandro Guardassoni Theatre is located in the Palazzo Montalto and is dedicated to the Bolognese artist. It is believed to have once been an elegant reception hall for balls and parties because of the gallery for an orchestra. F. Gualandi completed it in 1879 with a rectangular layout and running gallery on three sides supported by scrolled brackets. A balcony once opened up on the side facing the stage, with a five-arch loggia supported by columns. Ceiling decoration is by A. Guardassoni and G. Minelli. Today the theatre is used for educational purposes with conferences, lectures and charity events.
