The present Abbey of Scala Madonna della Scala in Noci was erected in the 20th Century. The original Benedictine monastery was all but destroyed in the 13th Century, leaving only a small church which dates back a hundred years or so earlier. The church has a fine arched entrance with a spire and belfry above. The 1952 church building has three naves separated by broad columns. The abbey grounds include an old restored villa which is used to host women who want to stay in the area. Men are hosted in the ancient guest quarters.
